Roots (20s - 30s)
In light of coronavirus
We want to make every effort to continue to meet with each other in our groups at the same time each week. This gives us an opportunity to encourage each other to keep on trusting in the Lord Jesus (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Roots will continue to meet during this time of reduced social contact, but we want to ensure we follow government guidelines and keep each other safe, so until further notice we will be meeting at 7.45pm on Tuesdays via Zoom. (Here is some guidance on using Zoom.) Get in touch with your group leader to get the details you need to join in.
Most church members are part of a smaller group where they pray for and help each other live as Christians. As groups we meet to consider how Sunday's Bible readings apply to everyday life and work as a team to share the good news with others.
Roots is our group for young adults, members are mostly single people or couples in their 20s or 30s working, training or studying in Cambridge.
We meet at 7pm on Tuesdays to have a meal together - a great chance to get to know each other better - and then from 7.45pm until 9.15pm we break into two smaller Bible study groups. The groups are the same week by week and so naturally provide opportunities to grow friendships and meet up socially at other times in the week.
We meet like this weekly, except for the first Tuesday of each month when we join together with other groups for the church prayer meeting. Prayer is essential, without God being at work we can't be effective, so prayer meetings are our first priority as a church.
Each term ends with an event of some sort such as a Christmas quiz, Easter chocolate evening or summer BBQ. Every few months there is an interactive seminar on themes like stress and time management, same-sex attraction, why the Reformation matters, or how to answer atheism.
